CommonDoor is technology solution that enables PGs and Hostels to digitally upgrade themselves making tenant management, finance management among several other things hassle-free.
What services do you provide?
Simply put, we help you manage your PG or Hostel better. With a technology solution on iPhone and Android phones, with us, you can completely digitize your property and have complete control over every aspect, be it tenants, compliance, finances, security and others.
How can I get started on CommonDoor?
We urge you to download the app and sign up to try us out. Once you signup, we will call you and complete a personalized on-boarding that will digitize your property in no time so you can start using it from day 1.
Can I get a demo of the app first?
Of course! When you sign up, we will get in touch with you to give you a free demo of all the features of the platform and how it can help you. Only after you're fully convinced (which we know you will), do we help you on-board your property on to the platform for use. And your trial period also only starts after your properties are fully on-boarded.
02. Usage Guide
How do I add a new property?
If it is your first property, click on the '+' sign from the properties tab on the bottom bar to get started.
When adding more properties, the properties page can be accessed from the more tab on the bottom bar.
In both cases, you'll be presented with a simple form that will help you submit all the necessary information to create a property.
Alternatively, you can simply call us and we will take care of it :)
How many pictures can I upload for a property?
You can upload one picture per property - preferably a front-facing one so tenants and prospective tenants can recognize your property by the picture.
What features do Tenants get?
Tenants use the CommonDoor app to raise service requests, give you private feedback or to check on their rental dues and home rules. Apart from it you can (optionally) enable rental payments through the app (Android only).
Can I edit the property once after I create it?
You can always edit the property to add more rooms, delete existing rooms, add/remove beds from a room, etc. This will help you keep check on the exact availability and the various configurations that are available for your tenants.
What Tenant information can I keep track of?
You can store tenant's ID card, address proof, work/college information, local guardian's information and permanent address along with parents' details.
Can I add existing tenants to my property?
Yes. This will be complete before you start using the app as part of our on-boarding process.
Can multiple users access the property?
Yes, multiple managers/supervisors and owners can access the same property. Permissions are managed by the Owner of the property.
Can I use CommonDoor in local languages?
Yes, we currently support using CommonDoor in Telugu, Hindi and Kannada apart from English.
Can I switch off online payments?
Online payments are always switched off by default. Once you request for online payments, we work with you to ensure we enable with the right configurations so you get tenant payments with 0 % commission.
Once online payments are activated, you can still deactivate them anytime in the middle of the month.
Can I edit the property once after I create it?
You can always edit the property to add more rooms, delete existing rooms, add/remove beds from a room, etc. This will help you keep check on the exact availability and the various configurations that are available for your tenants.
Are bookings done online?
Bookings are done on the app, when prospective tenants walk-in to your property and ask you for room availability.
How can I search for availability of rooms in future?
When your current tenants notify that they're checking out, you can edit their check-out date. This will free up the bed for use by a different tenant who is looking for a room.
Is property feedback by Tenant shared outside?
Tenant and Owner communication is strictly between both the parties and never shared on any public facing website including CommonDoor.
Can I manage salaries and expenses as well?
Yes. You will be able to manage salaries as well as expenses across various categories and watch where your spends are.
Can I record cash payments as well?
Yes, you can record the mode of payment from the tenant along with the amount received to keep continuous track of the dues, just like how you would in a register, except in much simpler and efficient ways.
What about past tenants of my property?
Once tenants check-out of the property, you can still see limited details about them under past tenants section for tracking and accounting purposes.
What do I do if I am facing any issues with the app?
You can always reach out to us using the in-app chat support, call, WhatsApp or email and we will be more than happy to help you out.
03. Data Compliance
Where do you store the data?
The data is stored on servers located in India using the most stringent encryption standards provided by Microsoft Azure.
Under what circumstances will you share my data?
Please refer to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for complete guidance on data sharing from CommonDoor.
Can we request for data deletion on your end?
Absolutely. Anytime you think you need to purge the data from our system, you can contact us at hello@commondoor.com and we will do the needful.
How much traffic can you handle?
We run on state-of-the art servers from Microsoft Azure that can take any amount of usage from Tenants as well as Owners. We automatically increase server capacity on demand to meet all your usage needs.
04. Other
What if I don't find CommonDoor useful?
We try our best to provide you help in every step of the way so you will find use with the CommonDoor app. Additionally, we also provide a 45-day trial to ensure that you are clear from any roadblocks that you might face in using various features of the app. If you still think CommonDoor is something that you cannot use at the moment, even after you paid for it, we will refund the charges in full.
Is there a monthly plan?
We only provide annual plans, but this is something we can consider in near future if there is more demand for monthly plans. Please let us know if you think this is required by emailing us at hello@commondoor.com
What kind of support do you provide?
We provide phone support during business hours and WhatsApp and email support 24x7 for any issues you are running into using the app.
Do you have any discounts for us?
We're an upcoming startup looking for feedback as we develop our app. Signing yourself as a beta user will entitle you to use CommonDoor at a much lower price - but this is something we only recommend if you will be able to provide us continuous feedback for app improvement.
